        OOC / COMMUNITY RULES

The Wyld is a roleplaying Free Company based out of Diabolos in Final Fantasy XIV. Our community does not require or push FC membership. Our community hosts three events that operate on a rotating schedule:
Wyld Hunt, Roommates, and Broken Collar Club.
We are a community that values OOC comfort and connections over in-character storylines. We do not take a policy of “no drama” or “no politics”, and we do not care to justify the quality of a person’s writing against the quality of their character. We are an 18+ only community. 18+ discussion is asked to be kept to properly indicated 18+ chats, including suggestive comments about other writers and/or their characters.

        OOO . ATMOSPHERE

We do not ban "politics" or "drama". We often find that these rules are utilized to silence justified criticisms of predators and bigots. Rather, we encourage people to share and discuss their thoughts and ideas about things like sexuality and identity, relations with heritage, and mental health. At no point will moderation stop a conversation about these topics merely out of disagreement - only if a user asks for time and space from the subject, or if a discord member is expressing outright bigotry. We will prioritize the visibility and expression of BIPOC and LGBT+ individuals.Racism, sexism, bigotry, transmedicalism, etc are not to be tolerated here. This is a safe space. If you take pride in "not being PC", this may be your warning to see yourself to the door. Community rules do not supersede social decency; escapism into roleplay does not supersede the safety of the community.

OO1 . NSFW AND SENSITIVE CONTENT

NSFW content must be kept in dedicated NSFW channels. This includes sexual and suggestive screenshots, artwork, and writing. We also acknowledge that a majority of the content that constitutes what is and is not “NSFW” societally is based in sexism. When deciding whether or not something counts as NSFW, follow the metric of: If you wouldn’t want a Walmart floor supervisor seeing it on your screen as a new hire, it’s NSFW.We do not ascribe to the concept of "Dead Dove", or the idea that any interest is permissible behind closed doors. In particular, users who find themselves interested in incest, zoophilia, or underage content, including strictly fictional depictions are asked to leave our spaces completely.

        OO2 . AI GENERATED CONTENT

        No.

        OO3 . APPLICATION OF RULES

Though this should not have to be explicitly stated, the rules in this community will not be applied universally. To be explicitly clear in what this means: we are not going to tell members belonging to real-world ethnic groups that they cannot or should not use terms that are common in their vernacular. You will probably see black roleplayers using the n-word casually. Members of the server who are not part of these groups will receive administrative warnings for doing the same thing.Because of the nature of the space we desire to build, the community runners here will, when met with an incident or confrontation in the space, evaluate each situation separately. When conflict arises in our community, we do not believe in punishment as a deterrent for poor behavior. We do not remove people for only dislike, hearsay, etc. Instead, what is brought into consideration is who they have affected, how that person has been affected, and if anyone else is at further risk. If resolution can be amicably reached, it will be. To be explicit in this regard as well: We have a lot of people with autism and other learning disorders. If you do something wrong and we have no reason to suspect that you're intentionally malicious, we will just come talk to you about it and tell you what's going on.

IN CHARACTER / ROLEPLAYING ETIQUETTE RULES

        OO1 . TONE & LORE COMPLIANCE

The venues operated by the Wyld take a loose stance of lore-compliance. While we are not usually the kind to turn away “out there” or high-powered characters, our events are spaces where we expect and anticipate reasonable, proportionate reactions to one another's characters. Voidsent lords and Garlean princelings, for example, are not turned away, but will be expected to accept reactions from other characters that may not be positive.Overall, we are more concerned with that players have fun, rather than ascribe to a strict standard of lore-compliance or lore-realism. There is not an enforced level of mundanity. We only expect that if your character exceeds certain levels of mundanity, you accept responses that match that intensity. In some cases, this may be that characters or their writers simply do not, on a personal level, desire to interact with high-powered or high-stakes characters and plotlines. To be explicit on this front about what this means: Characters who do things like praise the Empire will get punched. This is a proportionate and realistic reaction from other characters in the space.

        OO2 . CONSENT AND ASSENT

In-character and out-of-character are not equivalent. However, not everyone has provided their consent nor their assent to participate in certain forms of roleplaying. Going to venues and doing community roleplay is considered by most to be relatively lighthearted; something to wind down with. Thus, if you choose to bring serious subjects into public roleplay, you must accept the possibility of serious responses. If your character so happens to be a Garlean with internalized pro-Imperial beliefs, and these beliefs are put into public channels, characters in the space have immediate and full permission to respond in a way that is also appropriate for them. Many writers in our community must deal with systemic and interpersonal conflicts on a day to day basis, and did not all agree to involve themselves in these same conflicts used as plot devices in their spare time.ON ASSENT: We consider assent to be the implied consent that you provide by entering this community to receive realistic consequences for actions that you may take in character. Characters who are openly violent may have that violence returned; characters who are speaking hatefully in publicly accessible channels may be met with resistance or retaliation; other writers do not need prior permission in order to respond to public-facing emotes with reasonable and proportionate responses.ON CONSENT: We expect that consent is obtained for significant changes to your character such as permanent character death, or triggering content such as sexual assault, drug use, traumatic events, or otherwise sensitive subject matter. If you would put a content warning on something before posting it in the server, you should ask other players involved in a scene permission before including it in a scene. If this is not an experience you want from roleplay, we advise that bigoted or violent characters are limited to interacting in /tell and /party channels, in one-on-one scenes arranged within the community, or with discussions ahead of time in our server how you would like interactions to resolve within the public space.

        OO3 . "THE LIVING WORLD"

Stray’s venues are expected to be treated as a dynamic and interactive space, in line with the above. Interactions that exist in publicly accessible channels like /say within our venues and in the overworld should be considered fair game for other writers to react to, even if they are not directly engaged with your character. If you would like a conversation to remain private, we encourage the use of private channels such as /party and /tell.No one is obligated to interact with another writer, but if you are coming to our venues and participating in our community, we anticipate that you will be at least respectful toward attempts at walk-up RP from those you both do and do not know. This is also true in the other direction: If you exist in our spaces, you will be treated with respect if you walk-up to other roleplayers and interact based on what has been said in the public channels, or what hooks that roleplayer has available on their public profile and supplemental material. If you do not desire to interact with someone for any reason: you are encouraged to tell them upfront, in line with our rules regarding communication. If you feel uncomfortable with communication, you may ask a moderator or staff member to come assist you. Wallflowering is acceptable and you are not obligated to interact! We simply expect that individuals existing in the public space will be courteous and direct with one another.

        ASSOCIATES

Not all of the listed venues below are officially affiliated with Stray. These are venues and roleplaying communities that our officers and patrons either regularly attend or assist with operating. We enjoy the way that these events are run, and we are friends with the community managers at the events listed below. We endorse these communities, and would like to recommend attending these venues & joining their servers to anyone who is seeking new places to roleplay!

        MARE SYNCHRONOS SYNCSHELLS

Stray as a community uses two syncshells for all of our events, including Roommates, Wyld Hunt, and Broken Collar Club. Due to the differences between which players these events generally appeal to, we have divided our syncshell into two choices for participating. Some of our guests use a large number of mods, or use mods that have a significant performance load. Other guests are using low-end devices such as macs. We ask that our guests sort themselves into the appropriate syncshell for their character and their device's processing capacity.

        HIGH-PERFORMANCE PC SYNC

This syncshell is for all guests attending Stray venues. This means there is not a limit on file size - though we ask still for some amount of courtesy to other players. If you don't know whether or not your character uses mods that will cause performance concerns, we recommend joining the high-performance PC syncshell.

        SYNCSHELL ID: Stray_Highend
        PASSCODE: HighPerformancePC

        LOW-PERFORMANCE PC SYNC

This syncshell is for guests of Stray's venues that are not using mods themselves, have low-end devices, use primarily vanilla asset mashups, or have optimized their personal mods and data. We recommend the following file size limits:

80mb maximum compressed size | 300mb maximum vram usage | 100,000 maximum tris

We will remove users from the low-performance syncshell who exceed Mare's warning thresholds, or who cause significant strain on lower end devices.

        SYNCSHELL ID: Stray_Lowend
        PASSCODE: LowPerformancePC

Note: Sometimes these warnings can be exceeded without performance concerns. Sometimes performance can be diminished without exceeding warnings. We will evaluate on a case-by-case basis if users are slowing down lower-performance devices. If you are unsure of how much data you are sending, you can view your player statistics in the Mare Synchronos Character Data Analysis menu. If you would like to attempt to further optimize your mods for the benefit of other players, we recommend using this guide on optimization.
